Hi.....

Thank you for replying to my msg. & filling me in on some of the 'Nutt' info.

That is really interesting. I wonder IF the 'Dale' family & the 'Nutt' family are somehow related back in England or perhaps just good friends or perhaps it was work related.

To fill you in a bit, Sarah Ann was the 2nd wife of Richard. His 1st wife d. in 1870 in England. It was shortly after that it seems that Richard left England with some of his children & settled in Brooklyn. I don't have the marr. date to Sarah but it would be sometime after 1870 & 1875 (date of her death).

Henrietta (age 9) was the youngest dau. of Richard & his 1st wife.

I'm wondering IF Sarah Ann (2nd wife of Richard) could have been the 1st wife of George Dale! You mentioned that he died 1868, then Henrietta d. 1874 (so it looks like they just never bought a separate plot for her & just put her in with George & then when Sarah Ann d. 1875 she was also put in the plot with poss. her 1st husb.) Richard d. Feb., 1876 but he was then back in England where he died & was bur.

Richard H. Nutt was from Yorkshire, England where his family had been there since early 1800's & before that the family came from Leicestershire.

On LDS site, there are 'Dales' in the area of Drypool, Yorkshire, England area & that too is an area the 'Nutt' family lived in. I realize your family didn't have an 's' but perhaps it might have at one time!

There's a site on-line that has the Yorkshire Index for BMD but it only starts at around 1837 I think.

Perhaps, if there wasn't any relation bet. these 2 families they might have known each other in England or perhaps it was in regards to work. The 'Nutt' family onwed a manufacturing business both in England & Brooklyn. Do you know George Dale's occup.?

Also, Richard's father named Hassall Nutt (first name spelt in various ways) was also in Brooklyn (found him in, I believe, 1860 census which he came over around that time) & d. Oct., 1870 but haven't found where he is buried yet.

Question, was Henrietta & Sarah Ann buried under the 'Dale' name or the 'Nutt' name when they were buried with George Dale? I have seen the index of the cemetery on-line but never noticed Henrietta or Sarah Ann's name.

Looking forward to hearing from you as to your thoughts on the above.

Darlene
