We hope you have noticed the listings for the CSA Infantry companies raised
in Marion Co are now a little more complete. Do check them out. We have also
updated those for Talbot Co and are in the process of putting those 26 or so
Muscogee Co companies online, along with the 3 from Chattachoochee.

Cornell University has put the ENTIRE "War of the Rebellion" on the
internet!!! Over 60 volumes!!! It includes scanned images of reports,
correspondence, seizures of Southern property, etc. sent to the War
Dept. during the Civil War. It includes both Union and Confederate
accounts and is in chronological order.
There is an index in the last volume of the 60, but it is cumbersome to
use and lists only the series and volume in which a name or unit
appears, NOT the page number.
There is a general index at the back of the last volume. For a
particular reference, it references to Series and Volume
within that Series. You have to go to that specific Series and
Volume, and look in the index in the back of the volume for
specific page numbers. Soldiers names are NOT indexed.
You have to research by unit or Commander.
Another alternative is to find the volume and page number
for your subject in the index at a library; there are many
libraries that have the index. Go to this website

one's ancestors! Many folks are not familiar with some of these, so
